Do I still need a lawyer?

That's your decision, and the right answer depends on the estate and your state — an attorney can help you weigh it. We don't decide it for you, and we never tell you to skip legal advice. What we do is handle the administrative work; if we notice something that looks legal — a dispute, a contested issue, or a court-representation question — we point it out so you can review it with a lawyer of your choosing. We're not a law firm and we don't give legal advice.

How and when do I pay?

A small deposit reserves your coordinator when you engage us. The remaining Kindred fee is quoted before we begin and is typically paid from estate funds once available, if the estate and authority path support it. There's no hourly billing and no percentage of the estate.

Is this available in my state?

Yes. We provide estate administration and coordination in all 50 states. The specifics of probate vary by state, and your coordinator handles the administrative differences so you don't have to.

What if the estate has no cash right now?

That's common early on. The engagement deposit is intentionally small, and we discuss payment timing during the consultation. In many estates, the balance can be paid once estate funds become accessible; if that is not appropriate, we explain the options before you commit.

Are you a law firm?

No. We are an estate administration and coordination service, not a law firm, and we do not provide legal advice or representation. We coordinate the attorney and CPA you already have — or help you find them — and keep the work organized so nothing falls through the cracks. Kindred is paid only by you; we never take a referral fee or any payment from those professionals.

How long does settling an estate take?

It depends on the estate and the state, but most take several months to over a year. The clock is set by court timelines, creditor-notice periods, and tax deadlines — not by how fast anyone works. We keep every piece moving and on schedule so nothing stalls waiting on you.

What if there's no will?

That's common, and it doesn't change much of the work. When there's no will, state law decides who inherits and who can be appointed to administer the estate. We handle the same administration either way — and point out anything you may want to review with an attorney of your choosing.

What if the assets are in more than one state?

We coordinate it. Property in another state can mean a second, separate proceeding (ancillary probate). Your coordinator manages the administrative moving pieces across states so you're not juggling courts in two places at once.

Do you handle selling the house?

We coordinate the administrative pieces: documents, utilities, insurance, cleanout vendors, real estate agent introductions, listing milestones, and sale paperwork organization. Licensed real estate professionals handle brokerage and valuation work, and the estate makes the final decisions.

How do I keep track of progress?

You get a written plan up front and regular updates as each piece gets done, plus a direct line to your coordinator. There's no app to learn and no ticket queue — a real person tells you exactly where things stand whenever you ask.

Do you guarantee a result, timeline, or savings?

No. We carry the administrative work and keep everything moving, but court timelines, creditor-notice periods, tax deadlines, and the facts of each estate are outside anyone's control. Any dollar amounts, timelines, or savings shown on this site are illustrative, not promises. We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice; when a matter needs an attorney or CPA, we tell you and coordinate one.

How is my information protected?

We treat everything you share as confidential. We use your information only to help administer the estate and coordinate the professionals involved, and we don't sell it. See our Privacy Policy for the details.

What if I change my mind or I'm not satisfied?

You start with a free consultation, so there's no commitment to decide. If you engage us and then stop before the work is done, we refund any prepaid Kindred fee for work not yet performed; a small deposit reserves your specialist and is non-refundable once paid. Third-party and government costs already incurred aren't refundable. Our Refund & Cancellation policy spells this out.

What could change my price?

Each package covers a set volume of accounts, debts, heirs, and properties. If the estate turns out larger or messier, we move it to the right package using clear, upfront triggers — and we pause and give you a written recommendation before any change. No surprise add-ons.

You don't have to carry this alone.

Tell us about the estate on a free, no-obligation call. We'll map out exactly what needs to happen — and how we'd take it off your plate.

Start with fixed-fee Estate Setup, then choose the right package.
